Harrisonburg man found guilty in connection with mysterious death.
HARRISONBURG, Va. (ROCKTOWN NOW) – The Harrisonburg man that authorities say was responsible for the mysterious death last summer was found guilty of an amended charge. According to online records, a jury yesterday afternoon found Aaron Christopher Gordon Jr. guilty of voluntary manslaughter after a six-day trial in Rockingham County Circuit Court.
JMU grads filling key roles in teaching, nursing throughout Virginia
James Madison University graduates are helping Virginia meet the need when it comes to careers that are significantly understaffed including teachers and nurses. John Mason Coyle, 89, a resident of Linville, passed away on Sunday, July 21, 2024 at his home. Mr. Coyle was born in Charleston, West Virginia on July 6, 1935 and was a son of the late Douglas Gardner Coyle and Josephine Sutler Coyle and stepfather, John Graves. He served his country for 41 years in the Army and National Guard, where he taught infantry, cartography and many other specialties. He was a member of the Harrisonburg Elks Lodge #450 and of Edom United Methodist Church.

Update: Police arrest 23-year-old man accused of shooting someone to death
Waynesboro police have charged a 23-year-old man in the Tuesday morning shooting death of another man in the 400 block of James Avenue. Arrested and charged with second-degree murder and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony was Jason Patrick Sipe, 23, of Waynesboro. Sipe was injured and treated at Augusta Health in Fishersville. He was then charged and held without bond Tuesday night at Middle River Regional Jail.
