HIGH ROCK LAKE — Retired Capt. Jerry Wayne Howell, 83, formerly of High Rock Lake, passed away on July 16, 2024, at Mallard Ridge Assisted Living. A funeral service with Lexington Police Department Honors will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, July 18, in the Davidson Funeral Home Lexington Chapel, with Jimmy Truell officiating. Two NC women charged after 5 dogs found with no food, water or shelter, police say
Two women have been charged with animal cruelty after five malnourished dogs were found Sunday at a home in Lexington, authorities said Thursday. Tammy Wilt, 58, of Olympia Street is charged with five counts of misdemeanor animal cruelty and violating a city ordinance for having more than three dogs on her property, Lexington police said.
