PARKSTON — Dimock-Emery held off Mount Vernon in District 5B amateur baseball action on Thursday. The Raptors, who built a 6-0 lead after five innings, received 10 strikeouts from Jason Schmidt. Schmidt allowed five hits, two earned runs and walked one batter in five innings. Phil Johnson allowed three hits, two earned runs, one walk and struck out one batter in four innings.
District 3B tournament starts July 27 in Wessington Springs, Kimball/White Lake earns No. 1 seed
The eight-team tournament continues until Aug. 3 and five teams will qualify for the Class B state amateur baseball tourney, which is Aug. 7-18 at Cadwell Park in Mitchell. The first two days of the District 3B tournament, July 27-28, will be held in Wessington Springs and will conclude in Chamberlain from July 29- Aug. 1.

Ralland Bartelt, 72, of Stickney, SD, passed away Tuesday, July 23, 2024, at the Sanford Heart Hospital in Sioux Falls. Funeral services will be at 10:30 AM Monday, July 29, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Stickney. Burial will be at Dudley Cemetery in rural Stickney. North Harmon Drive Scheduled to Temporarily Close for S.D. Highway 37 Construction Project in Mitchell
Beginning Tuesday, July 30, 2024, North Harmon Drive, located directly west of S.D. Highway 37, in Mitchell will be closed to traffic. Motorists will be directed to Rowley Street for North Harmon Drive access. North Harmon Drive will reopen upon the completion of the sanitary improvement work. This work is part of a larger project that will reconstruct Highway 37 in Mitchell from Main Street to National Guard Road.
