Prairie Fruits Farm & Creamery wins three gold medals and one bronze at national cheese competition
A big congratulations to Champaign’s creamery Prairie Fruits Farm for winning in all four categories entered at American Cheese Society’s 2024 Annual Competition. This year, Prairie Fruits Farm & Creamery won first-place gold medals for feta, everything-bagel chèvre, and Little Bloom on the Prairie, plus bronze for their first-time entry of the delicious Ukrainian farmer’s cheese. Decatur Family YMCA to host Backpack Attack with free school supplies Aug 3rd
July 16, 2024 – The Decatur Family YMCA will host their annual Backpack Attack event on Saturday, August 3, 2024, from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm. During the event, 2,000 school supply-filled backpacks will be handed out to students entering kindergarten through 6th grade. Students need to be present to pick out their backpacks.
Illinois Basketball Guard Featured on Sleeper’s All Big Ten Team
Illinois Basketball guard, Kasparas Jakucionis, was featured on a recent All Big-Ten first team prediction done by Carter Elliott and Greg Elliott of the Sleeper’s Media podcast. Jakucionis was the only unanimous selection besides rising Junior guard, Braden Smith, of Purdue. Waddell’s team featured Smith, Jakucionis, Oregon’s Jackson Shelstead, Washington’s Great Osobor, and Indiana’s Oumar Ballo. Elliiott’s team consisted of Michigan State’s Frankie Fidler, and Mackenzie Mgbako and Malik Reneau of Indiana.

A new cannabis dispensary named The Dispensary Champaign is now open in Champaign. After a soft launch two weeks prior, Champaign’s newest dispensary hosted a grand opening party last Friday with vendors and the Maize food truck. This is The Dispensary’s third location and Champaign-Urbana’s fifth cannabis dispensary. The Dispensary Champaign joins C-U’s cannabis crew of Cloud9, nuEra Champaign, nuEra Urbana, and Sunnyside.
