Photos By Thomas Sellers Jr. The 2024 International Goat Days will kick off on Sept. 7 at the Millington Sports Complex with the Lions Club Pancake Breakfast at 7 a.m. Festival gates will be open from that time and will close at 6 p.m. Parking is $5 per car. The Tradition of Goat Days involves fun, games, vending, the display of goats and much more. Visit the City of Millington website for updates and flyers with information on activities offered this year. Come early, parking is limited. Enjoy an array of entertainment options including live music throughout the day from the MCHS Jazz Band, Dylan Robbins, Amber McCain Band, and Risky Whiskey Boys. Guest can take part in a variety of vendors and activities, including a goat beauty pageant, goat yoga hosted by the Millington Family YMCA and Hotshot Farms, an all-day kid zone benefiting the Kiwanis Club of Millington, The Ninja Gym, balloon twisting by Twisted Mr. Rogers, a rock wall, mechanical bull, face painting and more. So, get ready for a fun-filled day.

Lakeland Senior Center Hosts First “Grandparents’ Day”
The Lakeland Senior Center (LSC) recently celebrated its inaugural “Grandparents’ Day,” and it was a resounding success. Participants were invited to bring their grandchildren to join in a special art class, where the kids enthusiastically painted take-home canvases to share with their families and friends. The event was filled with smiles and creativity, leaving both young and old with cherished memories.
Emma Ames earns National Piano Award
Emma Ames, 21, daughter of Donald and Darlene Ames of Bartlett, has earned the 8-Year National Award from the National Guild of Piano Teachers. She performed a 10-piece memorized program each year for 8 years in Germantown’s National Piano Guild Auditions, where she earned a Superior rating. She received the Guild’s 8-year pin, a certificate, report card, a medal, and a porcelain bust of Mozart from her teacher, Benita Pepper, of Lakeland.
