    Woman, dog rescued from Murfreesboro fire

    MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WKRN) — A woman and a dog were rescued from a fire at an apartment in Murfreesboro Thursday night.

    The fire happened at the Park Place Apartments in the 500 block of North Maple Street around 11 p.m.

    According to Murfreesboro police, a woman with a disability was rescued from the apartment that caught fire. Everyone else in the apartment and two adjacent units got out on their own.

    No injuries were reported.

    Firefighters extinguished the fire and prevented it from spreading to the other units, according to officials.

    The burning apartment sustained significant damage and is inhabitable. The residents will be staying with other family members. Two neighboring units sustained smoke damage but the families are able to remain there.

    The cause of the fire is under investigation by MFRD Fire Marshal’s Office investigators.

    No additional information was immediately released.
