MUSKEGON, Mich. (WOOD) — Two people from Saginaw were hospitalized after being pulled from Lake Michigan in Muskegon Friday afternoon.

Emergency responders were called to Pere Marquette Park around 4:30 p.m. after the two people began to struggle in large waves, the Muskegon Department of Public Safety said.

Beachgoers rescued a 13-year-old girl and the Muskegon County Sheriff’s Office Marine Patrol got a 30-year-old man out of the water.

Police say the man was listed in serious condition as of Friday night. The girl was expected to make a full recovery.

Police reminded people to always be careful on Lake Michigan and pay close attention to weather and surf conditions.
