Game On Cancer and Detroit Lions Themed Corn Maze
DETROIT – The only people with more grit than the Detroit Lions are the 23,000 Metro Detroiters who tackle a new cancer diagnosis each year. To raise money to help those cancer warriors, a Macomb County orchard and winery has created a corn maze featuring Henry Ford Health’s Game On Cancer program and the Detroit Lions logo.
24 neglected animals rescued from St. Clair County property
A call regarding a dog attacking chickens led Michigan State Troopers from Lapeer to discover almost 25 farm animals being neglected in St. Clair County. Troopers responded to a complaint yesterday, August 26, regarding dogs attacking a neighbor’s chickens in Burtchville. However, preliminary investigation instead led to numerous animals being discovered on the property without food, water or proper living conditions.
Brief history of early Almont’s Homecoming traditions
Almont Township was organized on March 7, 1834. Seventy-five years later the Village and Township leaders decided to hold a celebration. The celebration was to be a “Homecoming” celebration to welcome back former residents. This was not like a high school Homecoming but was to welcome back anyone who had lived in Almont and moved away.
