Arkansas State Police investigating death in Johnson County, man arrested

JOHNSON COUNTY, Ark. (KNWA/KFTA) — Arkansas State Police have charged a Johnson County man in connection with a shooting death.

Mark Anthony Gonzalez, 22, was arrested on August 18 on first-degree murder and delivery of a controlled substance charges. He is being held in the Johnson County Detention Center on a $100,000 bond.

The Johnson County Sheriff’s Office requested assistance from ASP in the investigation into the death of Joseph Middleton, 49, of Clarksville, after being called to a home on Private Road 3533 in Clarksville around 1:50 p.m. on August 18.

According to his booking, Gonzalez has a court date set for September 18.
