    High-speed chase through fields and colliding with Highway Patrol in Madera County ends with suspect's arrest

    MADERA, California — A 28-year-old man driving a stolen Chevrolet Tahoe led California Highway Patrol (CHP) Madera officers on a high-speed chase earlier today.The pursuit began on southbound SR-99 from Robertson Blvd. in Chowchilla and continued through fields, orchards, and canal banks before the suspect re-entered the roadway and collided with a CHP patrol vehicle. The chase ended when the suspect's vehicle overturned after driving down an embankment on the north edge of the over-crossing between Golden State Blvd. and the off-ramp.Following the crash, the suspect exited the vehicle and attempted to flee on foot but was apprehended shortly after without incident by CHP units on the scene. The suspect faces charges of possession of a stolen vehicle, fleeing, assault with a deadly weapon (vehicle), and DUI, according to CHP Madera.No injuries were reported for either the officers or the suspect.
