    Sacramento police respond to fatal shooting on La Riviera Drive

    SACRAMENTO, California — Sacramento Police Department officers responded to a shooting on the 7800 block of La Riviera Drive on Monday, resulting in one fatality and one injury.Officers arrived just after 5:00 p.m. and found an adult male with at least one gunshot wound. Despite life-saving efforts, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene. Another victim, also with a gunshot wound, was found down the street and transported to a local hospital by the Sacramento Fire Department, where he is in stable condition.Additional responding officers detained an individual, identified as 25-year-old Austin Greer of Plumas Lake, who was later arrested and booked on homicide charges, according to the Sacramento Police Department.Homicide detectives and crime scene investigators have taken over the investigation, processing the scene, canvassing the area, and interviewing witnesses. The Sacramento County Coroner's Office will release the identity of the deceased after notifying next of kin.The Sacramento Police Department encourages anyone with information regarding the incident to contact the dispatch center at (916) 808-5471 or Sacramento Valley Crime Stoppers at (916) 443-HELP (4357).
