WINDSOR, VT- The Windsor Yellowjackets enter the 2024 season having won three straight Division III championships. They’re optimistic a four-peat could be in their future.

“We Are a team with a lot of success, so we always have a target on our back, and we love that,” said linebacker Joey Gaudette. “A lot of teams want to come at us, and they want to beat us. It makes their season if we are able to bend the knee against them. But no, we want to come out every week and whether you’re a DI team or DIII, and we want to have the same intensity each week. Run it, run it, run it.”

“We’re getting the best out of every team, no team’s taking us lightly,” said running back and linebacker Justin Draper. “Just like every year, it’s a new team, new year, you start off fresh. So we’re not based off of success from other years. We’re based on the start of this year.”

“Every year, we lose a few guys, quite a few guys. Takes a toll on a team, especially a DIII school,” said co-head coach Jamie Richardson. “But it’s taking a little bit of time to get everybody up to speed. It might be a little bit more difficult early, but I think down the road, we’ll make dividends of our hard work for the last two weeks.”

“You’ve got to take each thing week by week,” said Gaudette. “While I’d like to say that we’re ready for week 11, we need to be ready for week one first. And until we can get one week done, we can’t move on to the next.”

“If we can win some low scoring affairs early and let that offense come on, we’ll do ok,” said Richardson. “Every year, we think we’re close to a title. I don’t want to sound arrogant or anything like that, but we’ve had great success and hopefully we can do that again this year.”

The Yellowjackets start their season at home against Fair Haven. That game is on August 31.
