    Son Arrested in Connection to Fatal Stabbing of Mother in Brandon

    BRANDON, Florida — The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office has arrested a man in connection to the fatal stabbing of his 64-year-old mother on August 12, 2024.

    On August 13, 2024, HCSO received a tip from a concerned citizen about John Aylor's possible location. At approximately 4 a.m., Aylor was taken into custody without incident in the 900 block of Marjorie Avenue in Brandon. He is currently facing charges of armed burglary of a dwelling with assault or battery and first-degree murder while engaged in burglary.

    "Today, we have taken a significant step towards justice with the arrest of the individual responsible for the tragic and violent stabbing that took the life of an innocent woman," said Sheriff Chad Chronister. "Our thoughts and deepest sympathies are with the victim's family during this challenging time. We remain committed to ensuring that those who commit such heinous acts are held accountable."

    Aylor has an extensive criminal history with the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office dating back to 2003, including charges of grand theft of a motor vehicle, felony petit theft, and possession of a controlled substance.

    The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office is searching for a man identified as a suspect in a fatal stabbing in Brandon. Detectives obtained an arrest warrant for John Aylor, 37, in connection with the fatal stabbing of Julie Aylor, 64, on August 12, 2024. He is currently wanted for charges of first-degree felony murder while engaged in a burglary and armed burglary of a dwelling with assault or battery.

    "Detectives are working diligently to locate this dangerous suspect whose despicable actions claimed the life of an innocent woman," said Sheriff Chad Chronister. "We are asking for the community's help finding him and bringing him to justice. Any information that could help us in this case could be crucial in providing answers and closure for this family."

    The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office is conducting a homicide investigation in Brandon. On August 12, 2024, at 4:40 a.m., HCSO received a 911 call advising a 64-year-old woman suffered a stab wound. After deputies arrived at the scene, she was pronounced deceased.

    "Our hearts ache for the loss of this victim, and our thoughts are with her loved ones during this difficult time," said Sheriff Chad Chronister. "Our detectives are working tirelessly to find the suspect responsible for this tragic loss. We won't rest until we bring justice to the victim and her family."

    Detectives believe this is an isolated incident and that the public is not in danger. Detectives are asking anyone with information about this crime to call HCSO at 813-247-8200. This investigation is ongoing; any updates will come from the Public Affairs Office.
