HORRY COUNTY, S.C. (WBTW) — It’s time for another edition of First Responder Friday as News13 honors Grand Strand and Pee Dee first responders.

This week’s nominee is Joe Stowers with Horry County Fire Rescue. Stowers is an Horry County firefighter/EMT with Station 1 in Socastee. He became a firefighter in 2022 after a 5 year contract with the U.S. Marines.

Those close to him say he deserves to be recognized because he gives 150% at every shift he works and he’s always willing to help off duty too. They add, his commitment to the community is unmatched.

This past February he had his hand split open during a training, went to the hospital, got stitched up and stayed on shift to continue working.

If you would like to nominate someone for First Responder Friday, send an email to MMEYERS@WBTW.COM . Tell us why you chose that person and attach a photo.
