MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WBTW) — A man wanted by authorities in Florida remained in jail Tuesday afternoon after allegedly shooting at people with a toy gun on Ocean Boulevard in Myrtle Beach, according to a police report.

Calib Reginald Odom, 24, is facing numerous charges following the July 20 incident that led to his arrest. No one was hurt in the incident.

Odom allegedly shot two people with an Orbeez gun while they were walking in the area of 3rd Avenue South and then got into a fight with the victims after he was confronted by one of them, the police report said. After the fight, witnesses told police that Odom left and headed toward the beach.

Officers then found him in the water just north of the 3rd Avenue South beach access and ordered him to come out of the water, the report said. He ignored officers’ commands multiple times before coming out of the water and being taken into custody.

He was combative and resisted officers and “was yelling and making threats” during his arrest, the report said. He also gave officers a fake name — Matthew Fariley — but was later identified using his fingerprints.

After determining his real identity, officers also learned that he had an outstanding arrest warrant in Florida, the report said. The nature of those charges remains unclear.

He was being held without bond on a fugitive warrant Tuesday at the J. Reuben Long Detention Center. Other charges against him include:

    • disorderly conduct
    • fighting
    • littery
    • littering
    • resisting arrest by opposing a law enforcement officer serving a process
    • two counts of resisting arrest / interference with an official in the performance of duty/threatening an official in the performance of duty/giving false name and address
    • two counts of third-degree assault and battery
    • two counts of violation of the swimming code
    • two counts of throwing of bodily fluids by a prisoner on a corrections employee
    • two counts of assault while resisting arrest

Orbeez guns are colorful plastic toys that shoot water beads or gel pellets. They are known to have been used in a TikTok challenge that directed users to shoot at strangers or their friends.
