‘Faith & Blue’ event brings America’s Got Talent’s ‘Gospel Cop’ to Rockford

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — Minister Mervin Mayo, “The Gospel Cop” as seen on America’s Got Talent , will headline musical performers at the first ever Faith & Blue Event in Rockford this October.

Faith & Blue is a national outreach organization “based on the premise that strong communities are built through mutual respect and understanding. Law enforcement and faith institutions are key pillars of each community, and when they work together, neighborhoods thrive,” according to a press release.

The Rockford Police Department, Works of Faith, and Miracle Revival Outreach have teamed for the event.

“The Rockford community has seen our share of tragedies in the last year and this is a night for all of us to come together to continue to heal.  When law enforcement professionals and community members can relate as ordinary people with shared values, hopes, and dreams, we can find ways to work together around our many commonalities instead of being divided by our differences,” the release said.

The “Lift Me Up – A Faith & Blue Event” will be held on Saturday, October 12th at 6 p.m. at First Covenant Church, at 316 Wood Road.

Rockford Police Chief Carla Redd will be honored at the event, which will also recognize Rockford Park District Police Chief Theo Glover and Winnebago County Sheriff Gary Caruana.

Tickets are available for the general public, first responders and their immediate family get in free.
