HOUSTON, Texas - A man has been arrested after authorities say he poured used oil into a storm drain in a residential area.On July 19, 2024, a sergeant from Harris County Constable Precinct 4 observed oil on the ground leading to a storm drain in the 23900 block of Spring Briar Lane. Further investigation revealed that Ramiro Valdez had poured the used oil down the drain, according to a statement from Constable Mark Herman's office."Ramiro Valdez was arrested and booked into the Harris County Jail, charged with Water Pollution Unauthorized Discharge. His bond was set at $2,500.00 out of the 248th District Court," stated the Constable's office.

BERTRAM, Texas - A man in Burnett County Sheriff's Office custody escaped from bailiffs at the North Courthouse Annex in Bertram, Texas, just before noon today, leading authorities on a high-speed chase.The escapee fled eastbound in a white Honda SUV, reaching speeds over 100 mph as he approached the City of Bertram, according to a press release from the Bertram Police Department. A Bertram PD Sergeant, working overtime for the TXDOT grant-funded Selective Traffic Enforcement Program (STEP), joined the pursuit as the second law enforcement unit behind the BCSO Bailiff. The Bertram unit provided updates on speed, weather, and the escapee's driving behavior to Dispatch as the chase continued eastbound, with speeds reaching up to 130 mph.The chase concluded near the East side of Liberty Hill when the escapee turned into a dead-end business park near the intersection of Stonewall Ranch Parkway and SH29. With no way to exit, the escapee surrendered to the pursuing units, which by then included multiple Liberty Hill PD units.
