Man arrested for animal cruelty in El Paso
EL PASO, Texas — A 29-year-old man from East El Paso has been arrested and charged with animal cruelty after a malnourished French Bulldog was found abandoned in a desert area.Marco Trent Butler, of East El Paso, was taken into custody on July 10, 2024, and charged with cruelty to a non-livestock animal, according to a press release from the El Paso County Sheriff's Office. The arrest followed an investigation that began on June 18, 2024, when the animal cruelty investigation unit was alerted to a video showing the severely emaciated dog.Investigators identified Butler as the owner of the French Bulldog, which was found to be malnourished and dehydrated. A veterinarian assessed the dog and determined its condition likely developed over two to three months.
