Inferno reduces Chelan recycling center to rubble
CHELAN - The recycling center next to the Chelan Transfer Station just west of the city of Chelan is no more after a fire burned it to the ground on Wednesday. Chelan Fire and Rescue Chief Brandon Asher told Source ONE News that the fire started at around 11:30 a.m. The fire's cause and point of origin is still under investigation. Asher says the recycling center is a total loss with heavy equipment and its shop burning in the blaze. The fire was controlled nearly 90 minutes later. The transfer station next to the recycling center has been closed and will reopen on Thursday under normal hours.

City of Soap Lake reports sewage leak near beach
SOAP LAKE - A sewage spill near Soap Lake's West Beach happened on Saturday, according to the city's mayor. Mayor Allen DuPuy received a call at 4:04 PM, alerting him that effluent was emerging from a manhole cover near the men's restroom at West Beach.
