NIMSEF now accepting applications for upcoming winter season
SANDPOINT — The North Idaho Mountain Sports Education Fund, also known as NIMSEF, recently announced that it is now accepting applications for the upcoming ski season. NIMSEF, in its 15th season, is hoping to sponsor a record of more than a combined 75 snowboarders and skiers this season. The program, which started in 2010, is dedicated to helping local youths in Bonner and Boundary counties experience Schweitzer, especially those that would otherwise never have the opportunity.

Wapiti Fire doubles in size near Grandjean, seven cabins lost
BOISE, Idaho — The Wapiti fire burning near Grandjean doubled on Thursday night. As of Friday afternoon, it has burned 35,000 acres and is 10% contained. The fire is prompting evacuation notices in Hanging Valley, Stanley, Summer Homes and the Sawtooth Lodge.
