Sunday night’s baseball game at Centennial field was about much more than just baseball. The team honored and remembered former Manager Pete Wilk, who passed away this spring after a 15-month battle with brain cancer.

The Lake Monsters presented his family with a framed jersey and announced that the number 45 would be retired. Several current and former players also spoke during the ceremony about Wilk’s impact on their lives.

We talked with Pete’s wife, Erin, on the support he family has received from the Lake Monsters community. You can hear those remarks above.

The Lake Monsters then faced the Nashua Silver Knights from the third night in a row. Vermont’s offense provided eight runs, capped by a three run double in the seventh inning to break a tie. Vermont beat Nashua 8-5 to win their fifth straight game.
