Tennessee Titans Way Too Early Roster Predictions: Offense

The Titans are far from the cut day, and it will be fun to see how many will end up with a roster spot. Here are my predictions for who will and won't make the roster for the 2024 season.

Is Malik Willis In Competition For Backup Quarterback?

No, I don’t believe he is. We’ve seen that this staff likes to keep the backups and the starters very similar. This is evidenced by the signing of Tony Pollard's signing to pair with Tyjae Spears. Mason Rudolph is the clear backup, leaving Willis as the third emergency quarterback.

Who Is The Number One Running Back?

    https://img.particlenews.com/image.php?url=1ivo5m_0u7bBlBg00

Tony Pollard was signed in the offseason to pair with second-year running back Tyjae Spears. I view Pollard and Spears as running back A and B instead of starting and backup. Third-year running back Hassan Haskins was placed on injured reserve in August. He seems to have left his troubles in the past, with the assault charges that were placed on him in June of 2023 being dropped.

Jabari Small and Dillon Johnson were signed as undrafted free agents. Both resemble the starting two running backs in size and running style. Special teams will play a big part here, as whoever stays will have to be able to contribute more than just depth. The Titans keep Small and Johnson for depth at the running back position and on special teams.

Is Tight End The Weakest Position On Offense?

    https://img.particlenews.com/image.php?url=12IR6F_0u7bBlBg00

Chigoziem Okonkwo is going into his third season. He improved his numbers from his first season, but touchdowns decreased, which is the bread and butter of the tight end position. After suffering a season-ending knee injury that started in week 13, Josh Whyle finished the season on injured reserve. He finished with nine receptions for 94 yards and a touchdown. Thomas Odukoya is the other TE the Titans will keep for depth and heavy sets.

How Will The Offensive Line Look Week 1?

    https://img.particlenews.com/image.php?url=20AD8E_0u7bBlBg00

The easy picks are JC Latham, Peter Skoronski, and Lloyd Cushenberry. It’s a bit trickier after that. The Titans brought in Saahdiq Charles on Bill Callahan’s suggestion. That puts him in a great position to start at Right Guard. The right tackle position is the only spot that looks uncertain now. Nicholas Petit-Frere and Dillion Radunz are the main competitors for that spot. Andrew Rupcich, John Ojukwu, and Lerroy Watson will be in-depth.

How Good Is The Titans Wide Receiver Room?

    https://img.particlenews.com/image.php?url=2bNF3g_0u7bBlBg00

The Titans only had one good receiver last season, DeAndre Hopkins. It was bluntly obvious, as defensive backs double-teamed him multiple times last season. This year he will share the field with the top 10 wide receiver Calvin Ridley. The Titans also signed Tyler Boyd to be the slot receiver.

Boyd has been the top-producing slot receiver since he started playing in the NFL. Outside of the top three, things get shaky. Treylon Burks, the former first-round draft pick, has yet to live up to his potential. With the re-signing of Nick Westbrook-Ikhine, Burks looks to be the fourth.

Jah’Quan Jackson is a rookie who will be helpful in special teams, along with second-year man Colton Dowell. If Dowell didn’t have a perfect football physique with speed to match he would be cut too. This leaves Tre’shaun Harrison, Kearis Jackson, Kyle Phillips, Mason Kinsey, Bryce Oliver, and Sam Schnee who could be a 7th receiver if they decide to. Like I said in the title, it’s too early to make a final roster prediction, but it was fun.
