In the first round on Friday, Nashville selected Russian forward Yegor Surin at No. 22 overall. A highly competitive and physical two-way forward, Surin spent the majority of the 2023-24 campaign with Loko Yaroslavl of the Russian junior league (MHL).
2024 NHL Draft: Yegor Surin (2:36)
Though the Predators entered this week with three picks in the second round, they ended up with just the one, No. 55 overall, which they used to select center Teddy Stiga. A skilled playmaker projected by many to be selected in the first round, Stiga had a dominant performance on the world stage this season with the U.S. National U18 Team.
Nashville packaged the No. 53 overall pick earlier this week in a trade for Detroit Red Wings prospect Andrew Gibson and traded No. 59 (Spencer Gill) to the Philadelphia Flyers in exchange for their third-round selection No. 77 (Viggo Gustafsson) and the Minnesota Wild's third round pick in 2025.
Below is a summary of the Predators' picks in Rounds 3-7:
Round 3, No. 77: Viggo Gustafsson, D
With the pick they received in the trade with Philadelphia, the Predators selected Viggo Gustafsson from HV71 of the Swedish junior league. The only defensemen selected by Nashville in this year's draft, Gustafsson is a poised stay-at-home blueliner who provides some depth and physicality on the back end.
With their second pick of the third round, the Predators selected explosive winger Miguel Marques from the Lethbridge Hurricanes of the WHL. Like Stiga, Marques also had first-round potential, but some inconsistency in his play caused him to fall to the Predators at No. 87 overall.
With their final pick in the third round, the Predators selected Hiroki Gosjic from the WHL’s Kelowna Rockets. A right-handed winger with a powerful shot, Gosjic is skilled at winning puck battles and overwhelming opponents on the forecheck with his 6-foot-3, 198-pound frame.
To begin the fourth round, the Predators selected goaltender Jakub Milota with the No. 99 overall pick. Milota was named to the QMJHL’s Rookie All-Star Team as a member of the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles and boasts above-average skating and footwork around the posts.
Nashville sent the No. 119 overall pick (Raoul Boilard) to the New York Rangers in exchange for the No. 127 overall pick and a seventh-round pick in the 2026 NHL Draft. With their final fourth round selection, the Predators picked up forward Viktor Norringer from Frölunda of the Swedish junior league. Norringer spent his first season in the U-20 division in 2023-24, amassing 12 points (8 goals, 4 assists) and a +4 rating in 25 games.
2024 NHL Draft: Barry Trotz (4:02)
R7, 213: Erik Pahlsson, C
With their final pick in the 2024 NHL Draft, the Predators selected forward Erik Pahlsson of the Dubuque Fighting Saints in the USHL. He scored 28 goals and had 44 assists in 57 games, adding a goal and four assists in 11 playoff games, and he is committed to the University of Minnesota for the 2024-25 season.
