LEBANON – The Ally 400 NASCAR Cup Series race on Sunday at Nashville Superspeedway had a 1 hour, 20-minute weather delay for rain and lightning.

The race was halted after 136 laps initially for a lightning hold after a lightning strike was indicated within eight miles of the track. A storm cell was incoming toward the track from the northeast. Rain arrived at Nashville Superspeedway minutes after the red flag was put out for lightning. The drivers re-fired the engines at about 5:35 p.m. CT.

it's been sunny with hot temperatures and a high heat index throughout the race weekend at the track just south of Gladeville. But clear skies during Sunday morning and the early afternoon gave way to scattered storms.

This is the fourth edition of the Ally 400, as the NASCAR Cup Series returned to the Nashville area in 2021. This will be the second of those four races impacted by weather; Chase Elliott won at the track in 2022 in a race that began in the afternoon but ended under the lights.

Will NASCAR use wet-weather tires at Nashville? No.

NASCAR won't use the wet-weather tires it used for the final 80-plus laps of last week's race at New Hampshire. Nashville Superspeedway is larger than a mile, and NASCAR is limiting any wet-weather tire options for oval tracks under a mile and road courses.
