The Nashville Predators have officially signed starting goaltender Juuse Saros to an eight-year deal at $7.74 million AAV.

It was reported a few days ago that Saros would be signing a huge extension to stay with the Predators and it immediately sparked trade discussions surrounding top goalie prospect Yaroslav Askarov.

Saros still has one year left on his current contract at $5 million AAV and the extension will kick in at the beginning of the 2025-26 season.

The 29-year-old Finnish-born goalie is the Predators' franchise netminder right now and in the prime of his career. He will be going into his ninth year in the NHL and fourth fifth as a starter.

Saros has started at least 63 games and won at least 33 games in each of the past three seasons. He has also finished in the top six in Vezina Trophy votes in three of the past four seasons. He finished last season with a 35-24-5 record to go along with a 2.86 GAA, .906 SV%, and three shutouts. Expect a bounce back as he has a .917 career SV%.

With how good the Predators just got this year in free agency, this signing makes a ton of sense and was necessary for Nashville to continue to compete.
