ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – Diego Pavia has officially left New Mexico and gone off to Tennessee to prepare for his first season at Vanderbilt. After leading NMMI to an NJCAA national championship and NMSU to back-to-back bowl games, Pavia has proven that he can win at any level. Now that he has other SEC-caliber teammates, he said that he is more fired up for a season than he has ever been.

“This is probably like the most dynamic team I’ve been around, just athlete-wise,” Pavia said. “I mean, there’s kids running 4.4s, and they play D-line. So it’s like, it’s fun. It’s going to be a fun year, but it’s only going to be fun if we win, so that’s what we got to do.”

While moving to Nashville is a big transition for Pavia, plenty of former NMSU coaches and teammates have made the move easier for him. He is also enjoying all the amenities that comes with playing for an SEC school.

“That place is everything I’ve dreamed of,” said Pavia. “I mean from the nutrition standpoint, the weightlifting, just everything. The only thing is it’s moist out there, so the ball can get sweaty and sometimes it can get hard to throw, but like, I’m familiar with my coaches, and they trust me, so it’s going to be good.”
