The Thompson Hotel in Nashville's Gulch neighborhood is the favorite choice of visitors to Music City, dethroning The Joseph, which has taken the top prize two years in a row. That's according to the Travel + Leisure's 2024 World's Best awards.

The awards rank hotels, destinations, cruises and more based on votes from readers. Hotels were specifically rated on rooms and facilities, location, service, food and value.

The 12-story, 224-room Thompson, which is a Hyatt property, offers a popular rooftop bar called L.A. Jackson and a full-service restaurant called Marsh House. The property, opened in 2016, also has a coffee shop Killebrew Coffee.

"One reader noted the 'great' service, and another added that it's in a 'great' location," Travel+Leisure wrote about The Thompson. "One more reader said it offered 'great' value, and yet another wrote simply that it's a 'great hotel overall.' It's all that and more that makes this spot a must-see."

The Thompson secured a reader score of 94.92. Second-place The Joseph scored a 92 after claiming the top spot in both 2023 and 2022.

The Conrad Hotel, which has also garnered several accolades since its 2022 opening, was ranked No. 3 with a score of 90.13. No. 4 Loews Vanderbilt Hotel received a score of 89.68 and No. 5, Nashville's Four Seasons, scored 89.2.

Notably, The Thompson is the only hotel on the favorites list located in the Gulch. The Joseph and Four Seasons are located in SoBro, The Conrad is in Midtown and the Loews Vanderbilt Hotel is near the university's Midtown campus.

Nashville has seen an explosion of hotel development over the past decade, and more luxury options have flooded the city to keep up with demand. More than 13,000 new rooms are currently in development.
