Correctional officer assaulted at Nashville jail

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — An officer at the Downtown Detention Center was assaulted, according to the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office.

The assault happened around 10:40 a.m. at the facility located on James Robertson Parkway.

DCSO confirmed to News 2 the male officer was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center for treatment.

The sheriff’s office later identified the officer as Facility Officer Christopher Ashburn. According to DCSO, Ashburn was assaulted by two inmates.

Ashburn has been with the DCSO since March 2023. The assault is still under investigation. No further information is available, per DCSO.
