Fans Mock Shocking SEC Media Poll Results

Vanderbilt received unexpected love from a pair of SEC media members in the conference's preseason media poll, stunning college football fans.

The Commodores were one of seven teams to receive a first-place vote, joining Georgia, Texas, Alabama, Ole Miss, LSU and South Carolina. They received two first-place votes, a shockingly high number for a program that is routinely the worst in the conference.

Vanderbilt went 2-10 last year and is 36-83 since 2014. The program has only had three winning seasons since 1983 (2008, 2012-13) and has never won more than nine games in a season.

The idea that Vanderbilt will not only be competitive but win the SEC as it welcomes Texas and Oklahoma in 2024 would be laughable if people weren't paid to form those opinions.

    Fans ruthlessly mocked the results.

"Click bait artists," wrote one commenter.

"Their voting privileges should be revoked. Take it seriously or don't participate. This isn't even a homer vote that could be justified, like A&M or Kentucky, etc. Vandy is a ludicrous selection by anyone who has watched college football this century," added another poster.

"They should have stopped this years ago! They make a joke out of this every year!!" proclaimed another account.

Fortunately, most SEC media members took the voting seriously.
