Tennessee Titans fans are going to finally get to see more of T'Vondre Sweat as training camp kicks off

The Tennessee Titans' second round NFL Draft pick T'Vondre Sweat has been unable to participate in almost all of the on-field portion of off-season OTAs and training camp sessions. After suffering a minor injury months ago Sweat has been limited to off-field workouts, lifting, and specialized training to get him ready for NFL training camp that starts this week. And according to Brian Callahan, Titans fans have some good news to celebrate.
T'Vondre Sweat is back and ready to roll
When asked about injured Titans players and T'Vondre Sweat specifically during the training camp report day press conference Brian Callahan said this:
"[T'Vondre Sweat] looks good. He looks ready to roll. Don't expect any issues as we get started. He should be dressed and practicing and ready to play football."
This is great news considering the Titans will need some significant help up front to help the leader of the defense, Jeffery Simmons. Last season Simmons was the only interior defensive lineman to log double digit pass rush pressures or sacks, and the three leading defensive tackles in snaps behind Simmons are all now gone from the team. Sweat will most assuredly be asked to step into a massive role in year one playing multiple spots along the defensive line like he did for the Texas Longhorns.
T'Vondre Sweat and coaches getting him right before the season
Even though Sweat has missed plenty of time and has been away from the team in an on-field capacity the staff has been making sure they get him right and ready for the lead up to the season. Assistant general manager Anthony Robinson had plenty of conversations with Sweat this off-season and had this to say on making sure he is ready:
"Had a lot of conversations with Sweat this off-season...Making sure that when he comes back his mind and body's right. Because I think sometimes as a rookie you come in and don't realize how fast training camp comes. And then once it gets here how long the season is. Just making sure that he was doing the right things this off-season. Making sure he comes back in the right mind space, and also physically."
If Sweat comes back 100% ready to go then the Titans should immediately have one of most dynamic defensive tackle duos in the entire NFL. Sweat pressured opposing quarterbacks over 30 times last season for Texas and posted run stops for neutral or negative plays almost 30 times despite quite often having to face multiple blockers on the same play. Sweat's presence should create a completely different defense for the Titans in 2024.
And even though we didn't get to see him much in OTAs and training camp, check out some highlights from last season to see what he'll bring to the Titans in 2024!
