The Tennessee Titans clearly have a special talent, leader, and hard worker in their first round rookie offensive tackle JC Latham. Since day one of rookie minicamp Latham has been setting a high bar for the whole team with his professionalism, drive, and positive energy. And despite his obvious top tier natural talent, one of the things that makes him great is that Latham realizes he can always get better.

This offseason he's been striving to get better in any and every way that he can as he prepares for his first NFL season. When asked about his preparation and what he wants to accomplish in camp he had this to say:

"Just continuously getting better. I know that's one of my best traits as an athlete; just always the ability to get better...And I think my training definitely showed up out there. There's areas to improve in like anything else, but I'm really excited for [upcoming practices]."

It's one thing to say that "I want to get better", but it's another thing to put in the work like Latham does. When we talked to him last, just before the conclusion of minicamp in June, Latham told us he would take a brief break away with some teammates, but then it would be all business training again. However, he didn't tell us what exactly he'd be working on or who he would be training with this summer. It turns out Latham made sure to take notes from and train four weeks with one of the greatest offensive tackles off all time in Trent Williams:

"The main thing [I worked on] was pass pro...I feel like run game is definitely something that is, you know, it's attitude...but pass pro, especially being a tackle, is something that you get paid to do...really just [wanting to] working on the angles...I was here for three [weeks this summer]...Then went to Texas to train with Trent Williams the rest of the summer (four weeks)."

As it turns out this wasn't the first time JC Latham and Trent Williams had connected. Latham actually reached out to Williams a few years ago when he was a true freshman at Alabama too. Here's what Latham had to say about how much it meant to talk with and train with one of the greatest offensive lineman ever:

"It meant the world to me. I reached out to him as a freshman in college and asked him if he had any advice for me being a young guy coming into college. And how could I get to [his] level? Him texting me back within like the hour really meant the world to me...Seeing how he just keeps getting better and better, I knew I wanted to train under him...I think it's like what, year 14 for him? So just being, not only a vet, but one of the best to do it...That's somebody you want to learn from and just absorb their game."

Latham has been putting in non-stop work this summer, learning from incredible players to become the best version of himself for the Titans this season. Despite the Titans offensive line's struggles in day one of training camp, don't let that fool you. Latham and company will have their unit where they need to be very soon.
