First-responders found her shoes and cell phone down the embankment. A detective spotted Chmiel climbing up from the riverbank with scratches and lacerations.

Chmiel was found just before 9 a.m. at the Gay Street connector. She was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center for evaluation.

Investigators believe Chmiel went into the river at some point during her disappearance. She told officials at the scene she did not know how she ended up in the river.

No additional information was immediately released.
