Tennessee Titans cornerback Chidobe Awuzie to miss time due to injury

The Tennessee Titans have their first injury of training camp and it happened to starting cornerback Chidobe Awuzie.

According to head coach Brian Callahan , Awuzie suffered an unspecified calf injury during the team's first training camp practice on Wednesday. Callahan added that Awuzie will miss a few weeks.

This is obviously a terrible omen for a Titans team that has been one of the most injured in the NFL in recent years. And, as a side note: it's nice to have a head coach who actually gives information like Callahan did, which is a far cry form the days of former head coach Mike Vrabel.

The Titans signed Chido to a three-year, $36 million contract this offseason and the plan is to start him opposite No. 1 cornerback L'Jarius Sneed, with Roger McCreary working in the slot.

With Chido set to miss practice time, it'll be interesting to see who the Titans deploy in his place. Aside from Chido, Sneed and McCreary, Tennessee has 2024 draft pick Jarvis Brownlee Jr., Caleb Farley, Tre Avery, Eric Garror and offseason program standout and UDFA Gabe Jeudy-Lally, among others.

The Titans held their second practice of training camp on Thursday. We'll have full coverage shortly.
