NASHVILLE - The Tennessee Titans held a training practice in front of the fans at Nissan Stadium on Saturday. It was the first time Titans fans have been able to check out their team for the 2024 season.

Head coach Brian Callahan had the team go through an extended version of what a typical training camp practice at Saint Thomas Sports Park would look like. Stretch period, individual drills, special teams practice, and then the day concluded with 7-on-7 and situational 11-on-11 reps.

Here are my biggest notes and takeaways from Saturday's energetic Titans practice.

    - Third-year quarterback Malik Willis was particularly sharp on Saturday. Willis completed three of four opportunities during the 11-on-11 period when the Titans were practicing third down scenarios.

    - In team period, there were two strikes from Willis to Kyle Philips across the middle and his only incompletion was a perfectly thrown deep ball with good touch that was dropped by Bryce Oliver. It would have been a gained 40+ yards. Willis made some other really impressive throws outside the numbers. He delivered some back shoulder dimes and threaded the needle while on the run.

    - Recently signed outside linebacker Shane Ray flashed on multiple occasions. He got in the backfield for TFLs and at least one "sack" during team period. I continue to be impressed by his speed off the edge.

    - Kenneth Murray had a nice PBU on Tyler Boyd during 7-on-7 drills. Murray has lived up to expectations as a run stopper as well.

    - Josh Whyle has stayed busy. He's a popular target for both Will Levis and Mason Rudolph. Many are beginning to wonder if Whyle will overtake Chig Okonkwo as Tennessee's TE1 this season. I don't believe that to be the case, but do think we'll see Whyle have more meaningful catches in the red zone and on third down.

    - Will Levis was really strong in 7-on-7. His best highlight was a deep ball to Tony Pollard up the left sideline. Pollard beat Roger McCreary with a double move and Levis delivered a perfect throw.

    - On the flip side of things, Levis struggled mightily during the full-team period while practicing third down scenarios. On his first set of four reps, Levis failed to complete a pass. He underthrew Calvin Ridley on a deep ball that was intercepted, then proceeded to overthrow his targets on back-to-back reps.

    - Tre Avery was the one to intercept Levis. It was the first INT of camp so far. Avery has been getting more opportunities in practice with Chidobe Awuzie nursing a calf injury and L'Jarius Sneed doing load management for his knee.

    - Calvin Ridley suffered an ankle injury during practice. It looked like it may have happened on this same play. Brian Callahan informed the media after practice that Ridley is doing fine. I'd be surprised if he misses any time.

    - Jeffery Simmons recorded his second batted down pass in three open practices. The pressure coming at Will Levis from the interior defensive line has been impressive.

    - Garrett Wallow forced a fumble on Josh Whyle at one point. Wallow is another name to watch for the back end of the 53-man roster as camp continues. He has been notable early on.

    - After an up and down day, Will Levis signed autographs for the Titans fans at Nissan Stadium for a total of 44 minutes. He is taking his QB1 title as a badge of honor and representing himself very well both on and off the field.
