Tennessee Titans DL T'Vondre Sweat might be rounding into form at camp

When the Tennessee Titans drafted T'Vondre Sweat in the second round of the 2024 NFL Draft, there were no shortage of concerns about him, from his ability to stay in shape to his DWI arrest before the draft.

Things didn't get off to a great start for him in his first offseason, either, as he had to recover from an injury that wiped him out for the offseason program before he made his return to practice at training camp.

While defensive line coach Tracy Rocker said Sweat still had some work to do in terms of getting in shape, he added that the rookie has the right mindset and is working hard to improve in all areas.

"Not where I want him to be, but he wants to be in great shape, he's doing everything we ask, and he's putting forth the effort, and he wants to," Rocker said, per Paul Kuharsky . "So, for us, it has been great. The deal is, is just in practice everyday, we're getting better and better, but he wants to do it, so it's good."

And that work seems to be paying off, as Sweat was mentioned as a standout by a few Titans reporters following the team's feisty first padded practice .

"I saw big defensive lineman T'Vondre Sweat really moving some folks in OL-DL drills," Jim Wyatt of TennesseeTitans.com wrote. And he busted into the backfield to meet running back Tony Pollard on a run in team (period)."

"T’Vondre Sweat looked dominant, bull rushed Saddiq Charles, followed it up with a impressive swim move to win the rep," Broadway Sports' JT Ruhnke wrote.

Sweat is expected to grab a starting role right away in his first season, working next to Jeffery Simmons and Sebastian Joseph-Day. If Sweat can continue on his current trajectory, he and Simmons in particular are going to be a problem.
