With addition of Quandre Diggs, Ran Carthon and Titans front office have done the improbable

NASHVILLE - The Tennessee Titans have signed veteran safety Quandre Diggs to a one-year contract worth up to $5 million.

Diggs was selected to the Pro Bowl in three consecutive season from 2020-2022 with the Seattle Seahawks and has not missed a game in the last four seasons. At 31 years old, the veteran will be a nice partner for Amani Hooker in Tennessee's secondary.

With this move, Ran Carthon and the Titans front office have done something that didn't seem possible before the offseason began: Addressed every need on the Titans roster with quality talent.

Think about everything the Titans needed heading into the offseason. They had no offensive line , were thin on the defensive front, needed inside linebacker help, and had a gaping hole at both in the secondary.

Tennessee made notable draft selections in JC Latham, T'Vondre Sweat, and Cedric Gray who should all see quality playing time this season. The Titans also went big in free agency to address their other needs and have not stopped building since.

Former college teammates Lloyd Cushenberry and Saahdiq Charles are currently projected to start at center and right guard. Cushenberry is one of the best at his position in the league.

L'Jarius Sneed and Chidobe Awuzie join Roger McCreary to give the Titans one of the best cornerback rooms in the sport. Both Sneed and Awuzie are physical veterans that will thrive in Dennard Wilson's defense.

Early returns from Kenneth Murray Jr. have been promising. Murray will start alongside (likely) Jack Gibbens to open the season.

Sebastian Joseph-Day gives Tennessee some much needed depth on the defensive line. His versatility will be valuable and he should have some opportunities to clean up the mess Jeffery Simmons and T'Vondre Sweat make up front.

Jamal Adams is a high upside, low-risk addition that can help as a blitzer in dime packages...but Titans fans were still calling for a quality coverage safety to pair with Amani Hooker. Now they have their guy in Diggs and the puzzle that has been the 2024 Titans is nearly complete.

So why does Carthon, Chad Brinker, and the Titans front office deserve so much credit? Because before the offseason, it didn't seem possible for Tennessee to address every single one of their needs. The Titans have found a way to bring in impactful talent at almost every position on the football field and they have a much improved roster because of it.

I love when front offices get aggressive, but if you're going to go that route, you need to be committed to finishing the job. I think Carthon has finished the job to the best of his ability this offseason.

Diggs is a consistent veteran that has the best ability possible: Availability. Given the injury histories of Amani Hooker, Elijah Molden, and Jamal Adams, I think that's more important than anything else. He is a former teammate of Adams from Seattle and had registered 14 interceptions over the last four seasons.

If the Titans aren't competitive this season, it won't be for lack of trying on the part of the front office. Not every NFL fanbase can confidently say that going into the fall of 2024.
