Tennessee Titans get rocked by surprise retirement of offensive starter

NASHVILLE - The Tennessee Titans placed OL Saahdiq Charles on the reserve/retired list after he informed the team that he is stepping away from the game of football.

Charles, 25, was on track to win the starting job at right guard heading into training camp. He was signed by the Titans as a free agent this offseason.

Charles missed two practices over the weekend for "personal reasons," according to head coach Brian Callahan.

In the blink of an eye, the Titans are without a starting right guard and the job back up for grabs. When Charles was out this weekend, Dillon Radunz took the reps with the starting offensive line group and performed very well.

I'd say Radunz is the new favorite for the starting job, but veteran Daniel Brunskill is another name to watch.

A 25-year-old offensive lineman retiring when he's projected to get the most playing time of this NFL career is an absolute shocker. The Titans' coaching staff was really excited about the athleticism Charles was going to bring to the offense.
