FORT MADISON - The FMAAA Art Center hosts the Tri-State Quilt Guild for August along with Prints in the Pop-up. The FMAAA Art Center welcomes the Tri State Quilt Guild for August. Every two years Fort Madison is treated to an exhibit that has roots in historic handcraft but has transcended into modern design. Everyone is welcome join us this Thursday, August 6 for the Opening Reception from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the Main Gallery of the art center located at 825 Avenue G and meet some of the quilters as these ladies share their full-sized quilts and quilted items for this month-long exhibit. There are an amazing range of designs and a variety of techniques to see – and all are candidates to become treasured heirlooms. The Tri-State Quilt Guild was organized in 1990 and currently has eighteen members ranging in ages from thirteen to somewhere past retirement who meet up regularly to “sew and tell.” Some are hand quilters while others are skilled at long-arm quilting. This group is always open to new members who are interested in learning more about quilting, all are welcome novice through skilled.
