    COLUMBUS, Ohio ( WCMH ) — Ohio’s record-setting year of tornadoes continues.

The National Weather Service confirmed a touchdown Wednesday after strong storms swept through Cuyahoga County. Survey crews were assessing the path on Tuesday afternoon, but it was believed to go through the communities of Valley View and Bedford, southeast of Cleveland.

Winds as fast as 86 mph were reported in the area, leading to multiple power outages and several businesses to close Wednesday.

It contributed to Ohio’s unprecedented year of tornadoes, with the previous record of 62 touchdowns in a year, set in 1992, being eclipsed by early July .

The run included 23 tornadoes in May, linked to an unusually warm winter that featured mild temperatures, virtually no ice on the Great Lakes and warm water in the Gulf of Mexico, Storm Team 4 Meteorologist Ben Gelber said.

The worse of these in central Ohio came on March 14 when an EF-3 tornado left three dead in Logan County.
