    Two adults found dead inside Mount Vernon apartment building, one person arrested

    MOUNT VERNON, Ohio ( WCMH ) – An apartment building where two people were found dead was secured as a crime scene and one person has been arrested, Mount Vernon police said.

    According to a news release, officers responded to the 100 block of South Gay Street in Mount Vernon to conduct a welfare check. Just after 10 p.m. Wednesday, police discovered two adults, one man and one woman, dead inside the apartment.

    Police did not release any information on the circumstances surrounding their deaths, but later announced that Cameron Moore was arrested and charged with two counts of aggravated murder.

    Mount Vernon PD said that Moore acted alone and that no other individuals appeared to be involved. Moore is being held at Knox County Jail without bond pending further court proceedings.

    Detectives from Mount Vernon police and investigators from the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation, along with representatives from the Knox County coroner’s office and the Knox County prosecutor’s office, were present at the scene.

    Authorities believe the incident is an isolated and that there is no threat to the community.

    The victim’s names were not immediately released.
