Forecast: Storm Chances the Next 2 Evenings

    By Jason Parkin,

Storms have already started popping up in spots as I type this late Saturday afternoon, with more on the way out of Nebraska as a disturbance moves across Iowa. On Sunday, a cold front will cross the state late and kick off another round of storms, though this second round doesn’t look to be as widespread. Timing is shown in the Stormpath images below:

Our severe risk is low, but nonzero, with both of these rounds of precipitation (1st set of images below), and stays low throughout the week (second set of images). These forecasts come from Colorado State’s machine learning algorithm.

Rain totals don’t look to be too heavy, and we’re not expecting much of an impact on area rivers through Monday.

Beryl will impact the southern U.S. with wind and heavy rain as it moves ashore Monday. The forecast images below show rainfall and the expected path.

As seen in the gallery below, highs will warm starting Tuesday. It also appears that next weekend could be steamier, with highs in the neighborhood of 90 and dewpoints in the low 70’s.

As discussed in yesterday’s blog, it does appear that we’ll see a hotter and drier period in mid-July (see images below).
