Gus Macker tournament taking over Corning's Gaffer District this weekend. How to watch.
More than 120 teams have signed up to play in the Gus Macker 3-on-3 Basketball Tournament in the Crystal City this weekend. Teams will begin playing 3-on-3 games at 8 a.m. Saturday and the tournament will continue through Sunday, said Emmie Agee, Gaffer District Marketing Manager. The games are played to 21 points on a half-court.

Galeton, Pa. — George A. Bowen, Jr., 85, of Galeton, Pa. died Tuesday, July 16, 2024 in his home. Born Sept. 30, 1938 in Blossburg, he was the son of George A. and Hilma M. Hakes Bowen. The family resided in Wellsboro and Spring City, and in 1945 moved to Galeton, where his parents established the Bow Inn. The Bow Inn started out selling gasoline and a snack bar, like the modern mini mart, eventually adding a motel, which they operated for many years.

Friends of Chemung River Watershed are making the public aware of illegal dumping that’s taken place around McKinnon Park. Chemung River Friends says many don’t know the property that was 1335 Pratt Street is not actually part of the park according to the tax parcel maps. But people have been just illegally dumping their trash because it looks like a dump. There’s even a burnt down structure on the property and no secure fence to keep away children and pets, posing a safety issue.
