Two arrested on suspected drug, firearms crimes after Madison traffic stop
A traffic stop in Madison last week led to a pair of arrests on suspicion of illegal drug activity. Following the stop Friday, Greenwood County deputies say they arrested Wayne Moler and Gabrielle Cheshewalla on suspicion of distributing methamphetamine; possessing fentanyl, marijuana, opioids and psilocybin; and possessing paraphernalia both for use and distribution. In addition, Moler was arrested on suspicion on being a felon possessing of a firearm; possessing a short-barrel shotgun; defacing the serial number of a firearm; violating driving restrictions; and transporting an open container of alcohol.

Sheriff: Juvenile stole two pickups before arrest in Kansas
LYON COUNTY —Law enforcement authorities are investigating a juvenile on multiple allegations after a weekend arrest. Just after 4a.m. Sunday, Sheriff Deputies were dispatched to the 400 block of Exchange Street, Neosho Rapids, for a report of an abandoned white Ford F150, parked in the roadway, according to Lyon County Sheriff's Sgt. Zachary M. Shafer.
Californian hurt in semi wreck near Emporia
A California resident was hurt in a crash northeast of Emporia on Tuesday. Lyon County Sgt. Doug Stump says the crash happened shortly after 1 pm in the 2100 block of Burlingame Road, about three miles northeast of Emporia. The crash developed as 22-year-old Angel Tejada of Van Nuys, California, was driving a semi and got distracted for unlisted reasons. The semi went off the road and rolled onto its passenger side.
Overland Park man accused of mistreating adult as part of scam effort
Formal charges are pending in Lyon County after an Overland Park man was arrested on suspicion of mistreating a dependent adult or elder person. 25-year-old Juan Diego Romero Hernandez was booked into the Lyon County Jail on Tuesday on suspicion of mistreatment by deception, false pretense, duress or coercion with a value of up to $25,000.
