SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4) – Happy Thursday, Utah! We hope you enjoyed the seasonable temperatures this week because it’s about to heat up. The upper 90s and triple-digits return to both southern and northern Utah, right around 100 degrees for the Wasatch Front. Higher elevations will climb to the upper 80s and low 90s while hot spots like St. George reach the mid-100s. It continues warming slightly into Friday and Saturday where Salt Lake will come within a degree or two of record highs.
Black bear euthanized after it bit man in Big Cottonwood Canyon
SALT LAKE CITY — A man was bitten by a black bear in Big Cottonwood Canyon Wednesday afternoon. Faith Jolley with the Utah Department of Natural Resources said sometime between 1:15 p.m. and 1:30 p.m., the man was trail running in the Mill D North Fork Trail area of the canyon when he heard a bear in the brush near him.

Eight people have died on Utah roads since Pioneer Day in speed-related incidents. Seven months into 2024, the state has seen more than 5,000 crashes caused by high speeds.
