NEW BEDFORD — It was an exciting day at The Baker on Wednesday, when "Madam Secretary" actress and producer Téa Leoni surprised the staff with a visit to their bakery at 562 Pleasant St.

The manager of the bakery, David Landers, couldn't contain his excitement as he greeted the star.

"I was like wait a minute, I know this person," he said. "We asked her for a photo, and she actually had the idea to come back and make a product with us and take a little video."

The short video can be seen on The Baker's official Facebook page.

Leoni, who is best known for her roles in hit films like "Deep Impact" and "The Family Man," and TV series such as "The Naked Truth" and "Madam Secretary," has received numerous Emmy and Golden Globe nominations for her work.

Landers said she partnered up with staff to make chocolate croissants and cinnamon buns.

"It was a lot of fun. She was rolling dough with us. She was making jokes. She was very charming, and very kind to me. So it was a really nice experience. Kind of made my day," Landers said.

However, Landers revealed that the croissants made during Leoni's visit did not make the final cut to be served to customers.

"She said she will come back. We're not sure when, but she's always welcomed," Landers said.
