Pierogi Fest returns to Whiting, Indiana this weekend
CHICAGO (CBS) —The wackiest festival in America returns to Whiting, Indiana this weekend.The 2024 Pierogi Fest kicks off on Friday and runs from July 26 to July 28, honoring Eastern European culture through food. Among the festival's wackiness, Pierogi Fest also honors the role that grandmothers play in nearly every world culture. Throughout the festival, visitors will see Buscias walking around the mile-long fair in their stockings and housecoats. Volunteers needed for food giveaway event focused on post-storm relief. Will County Executive Jennifer Bertino-Tarrant and City of Joliet Mayor Terry D’Arcy are partnering with ShareFest Will County to host a Free Food Giveaway event from 9 a.m. until noon on Saturday, July 27th to support residents impacted by last week’s storms. Every year after the conclusion of the Naperville Little League season, each of the National, Republic and Continental divisions from Majors AA create a 12-player All-Star team to compete in the state little league tournament. Mascot Hall of Fame in Whiting set to close
Whiting, Indiana will be forced to say goodbye to the Mascot Hall of Fame on September 14. The group announced on Facebook in a statement, saying,. “It is with sadness in our hearts that we must announce that the Mascot Hall of Fame will be closing in Whiting for good on September 14th,” the post said. “We have made quite a family in the 5+ years since we opened our doors. We have had the pleasure of sharing in hundreds of your special days and birthdays. We’ve had thousands and thousands of students visit for field trips.
