North Mac hosted another successful night of 7 on 7 football with New Berlin, Auburn and Nokomis among the other participants. We have footage of all four teams, including a Sangamo preview matchup featuring New Berlin and Auburn. Also included are offensive and defensive lineman competing in one on one drills.

Area football schedules for 2024 season
The Illinois High School Association released all football schedules for the 2024 season. The season opener for all area teams (Arcola, Tuscola, Villa Grove and Arthur Lovington Atwood Hammond) is August 30 and the regular season finale is set for October 25. The first day of football practice is Aug. 12 with the playoffs pairings to be announced October 26 and they start Nov. 1 or 2 with the second round set for Nov. 8 or 9 and the quarterfinals Nov. 15 or 16 followed by the semifinals Nov. 22 or 23 and the Class 1A state championship is Nov. 29.

North Mac’s Jersey West wins championship at Drysdale
On July 11, incoming North Mac High School junior Jersey West won a championship at the Drysdale Golf Tournament in Springfield for the second year in a row. After claiming the title of the 14-15 age division in 2023, West dethroned defending champion and Rochester graduate Kiley Torres 3-up-2 on the final day in the 16-18 competition. West is a member of the NMHS girls’ golf team. Her teammate Taylor Keirs also competed at Drysdale but lost to Torres 2-up-1 in the 16-18 semifinal round.
