Fox that may have attacked 3 central Pa. residents tests positive for rabies
SELINSGROVE — The fox that is believed to have bitten three Snyder County residents this week was rabid, the state Game Commission says. The remains of the fox were tested after it was killed by a state trooper Thursday in the area of Harris Estates in Penn Twp., just outside Selinsgrove.

Dangerous fire investigated in Benton
Benton, Pa. — An investigation into a Benton fire led to charges being filed against a local man who admitted to setting it intentionally, police said. Eric Michael Kocher, 44, told his neighbors “I’m sending it your way” while standing in front of the fire with a rake at the end of April, Corporal Zachary Martini said. Death of body found in wooded area ruled homicide
HAZLE TOWNSHIP, LUZERNE CO. (WOLF) — The death of a body found in a wooded area near the Hazleton High School on Wednesday has been ruled a homicide. According to the Luzerne County District Attorney's Office, Pennsylvania State Police were investigating several tips and had been patrolling the area on foot when a body was located around noon.
Spring Township detective named Centre 2023 Law Enforcement Officer of the Year

Former fiscal manager charged with defrauding over $400k from children's advocacy center
SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA CO. (WOLF) — A former fiscal manager for the Children's Advocacy Center for Northeastern Pennsylvania (CAC/NEPA) has been charged with wire fraud. According to the United States Attorney's Office, from Nov. 2018 to June 2022, Angela Saar, 51, of Olyphant, engaged in a scheme to defraud the CAC/NEPA while employed as the fiscal manager.

Chander resigns from Penn College
Pankil Chander has stepped down as head coach at Penn College after two seasons to take another coaching position. He coached the team to its first ever winning dual meet record as an NCAA institution and first ever NCAA qualifier. He had previously coached at Springfield College and Gettysburg College before taking his first head coaching job at Penn College for the 2022-2023 season. The Wildcats joined the AMCC as an associate member in 2023 and finished as the conference runner-up. Penn College has begun a search for his replacement.
