Penn College Summer 2024 Commencement set for Aug. 3
More than 150 students have petitioned to graduate from Pennsylvania College of Technology following the Summer 2024 sessions. A commencement ceremony will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 3, at the Community Arts Center, with 100 students expected to march in the proceedings. The ceremony is for graduates and ticketed guests. A livestream broadcast will be offered on the commencement website.

Four Pennsylvania Men Charged with Federal Firearms and Drug Trafficking Violations in Pittsburgh
Four Pennsylvania residents have been brought up on serious charges of violating federal firearms and narcotics laws, as announced by United States Attorney Eric G. Olshan. The indictment, served by a federal grand jury in Pittsburgh, includes allegations of unlawful possession with the intent to distribute significant quantities of cocaine, fentanyl, and heroin, as well as firearm possession by convicted felons. The Department of Justice press release identifies the accused as Derrick Lyman of McKeesport, Kenneth Hamlin Jr. of Murrysville, Daniel Jackson of Penn Hills, and Devlin Clifford of Monroeville.
Slow highway driver, passenger caught with more than 30 grams of marijuana
Muncy, Pa. — A driver was traveling 18 mph below the speed limit when state police troopers watched him throw a cigarette from the car. According to Trp. Dylan Houser, the vehicle being driven by Jorden Jene Walters just before 9 p.m. smelled of “raw” marijuana as he approached it. The 29-year-old Walters claimed ownership over everything in the vehicle except for a backpack being carried by passenger Christopher Andrews, Houser added. Man arrested after allegedly raping minor in Brookline hotel
A 45-year-old man was arrested this week after he allegedly drove to Brookline from Pennsylvania and raped a minor whom he had met on a social media app. Edward Garry is facing charges of enticing a child under 16 and aggravated rape of a child, according to records from Brookline District Court.
Pottsville Pizzeria Celebrates 75 Years of Tradition This Saturday
This Saturday, Pottsville Pizzeria will celebrate its 75th anniversary. The pizzeria has been serving the community with its classic pizzas and subs since the summer of 1949. The story of Pottsville Pizzeria began when Mrs. Paparazo and her three sons opened the first pizzeria in the area in the basement of their home at 441 Prospect St. The business quickly grew, leading to a move in September 1953 to a more convenient location at 530 N. Centre St. This relocation allowined for the development and expansion of their product offerings. It was here that the concept of unbaked pizzas for home baking was born, eventually evolving into the famous Packaged and Frozen Pizzas.

TOWANDA, PA. (WENY) -- A Troy, Pennsylvania man will serve at least 5 years in prison on two separate meth charges.
