EXETER, N.H. — The Exeter Police Department in a recent statement announced it is proud to introduce KG Lockwood as its newest dispatcher, a seasoned professional with a rich background in emergency services. Lockwood, who joins the department with over 35 years of experience in the fire service, has an extensive career that spans several key roles in emergency management and public safety.

Lockwood's dedication to emergency services began in his early years, influenced by his family's legacy as firefighters. He spent more than a decade at Lakes Region Mutual Fire Aid in Laconia, where he ascended to the role of deputy chief. Following his tenure in Laconia, Lockwood served as the fire chief in Gilmanton before transitioning to roles as a dispatcher for the Grafton County Sheriff’s Office and deputy fire chief in both Farmington and New Durham.

After a brief retirement during which he took up school bus driving, Lockwood realized his passion for dispatching and working closely with first responders was too great to set aside. His decision to return to dispatching was driven by a longing for the camaraderie and impact of emergency services work. "I missed it. I missed the involvement," Lockwood shared. "You can only stay home and mow the lawn for so long before you realize you’ve got to do something else.”

The Exeter Police Department has welcomed Lockwood warmly, with many in the department already familiar with him due to his notable career in nearby communities. "This is a great community to work for. It’s a great department," Lockwood expressed, acknowledging the positive reception from both police and fire personnel in Exeter.

KG Lockwood is enthusiastic about his new role and the opportunity to contribute to the Exeter community. His return to dispatching marks a continued commitment to public service and safety. The Exeter Police Department looks forward to the expertise and passion Lockwood brings to his new position.
